About Cook In / Dine Out

I started Cook In / Dine Out in January 2012 as a way to explore and share my interest in enjoying good food, whether it's prepared by me at home or by chefs in great restaurants. Here you'll find original and adapted recipes that are delicious and made with (generally) fresh ingredients. Although not a health-food site, my recipes follow my own preferences for moderation, lean meats and lots vegetables. Yes, you'll find cakes and cookies here but also lots of salads and vegetarian fare. Cocktails too.

I also write occasionally about other media, including a weekly feature, The Feed, on interesting food stories from news and other food sites.

I was born and raised in Portland, Oregon and moved to the Washington, D.C. area in the late '90s. I live in Upper Northwest Washington with my husband, who, besides being generally wonderful, is my principal taster and proofreader.
